Here's an 'interesting' one for you.
On a HGV MOT test, it is now no longer a requirement for the vehicles side indicators to be visible from the rear of the vehicle.
Has been a requirement for many years.
So, yes we all know it is dangerous to stop on the nearside of a truck, but now potentially you get no warning of a vehicle turning across you.
Shocking!!

Still seems to be a requirement according to this:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/2 ... Update.pdf
66 Direction Indicators and Hazard Warning Lamps
1. Check direction indicators for:
b. presence of a side repeater and that it is visible to the rear.
Reason for Failure
1. Direction indicator:
b. side repeater missing or not visible to the rear.
(Assuming I'm looking at the right document, and reading it correctly...)0 -

Indeed you are.
In the update, due anytime now, the "and that it is visible to the rear" line is deleted.0 -
But you'd be able to see the rear indicators from the rear, and the side indicators from the side right, you just won't necessarily be able to see the side indicators from the rear, or am I missing something?
If you're on the side though and you see the side indicators blinking, well, it was nice knowing you!0 -
Not if you're along side the vehicle for example when passing you.
You could easily be in a position where you won't see the rear or side indicators.0
