Large number of club riders South of Nottingham this morning

Anyone know what was going on?
I was coming up the A60 (Northbound) when droves of club kitted cyclists went past the other way. I must've seen 30-odd and one of the guys at work said he saw at least that many himself when he pulled into the car park after me.
White base colour top with black banding on the left chest. All going South past Ruddington towards Bradmore on the A60 South of Nottingham at about 8:15 this morning.
A variety of bikes as well, full carbon jobbies to flat bar road bikes, so it could've been a work organised distance ride?

Hiya,
It was something to do with the ashes cricket. They were doing Trent bridge to Lords I think.

It was the Investec ashes challenge. I saw them riding from the city centre to Trent Bridge just before 8am and asked one of them. There was a distinctly robustly built chap on a hybrid amongst them. Mike Gatting was in the mob so I'm guessing it was him.0
