This x10, I have no exp of the black chilli compound but the normal ones I found to be shocking, replaced within a week of getting my new bike.

Conti MTB tyres are dreadfull! ....Although I've not tried their black chilli compound MTB tyres (use GP4000S on the road bike - brilliant tyre).

I had mountain king 2's on my 29er, they don't sit well on the rim at all, however much I tried, they just wouldn't so I got fed up and bought some Racing Ralphs instead, much happier, brilliant tread and great in all but the wettest conditions.

Maxxis Ardents seem to work very well, and are as tough as old boots (I've tried keeping up with Ste_t on his).

    I found that a 29er doesn't need as aggressive a tyre as a 26er.

No experience with Conti non black chili compound but lots with black chilli. Contis with black chilli, I use race sport, are fantastic for me. New bike came with schwable evo pace star (rocket ron front and racing ralph back) and I find the Contis totally on par and a little cheaper. Very hard to split the two for me. Tread pattern depends on surface and I swap out depending on conditions.

I found the mountain king 2 great on the front but the X king I have on the back is only good in dry weather.

In the winter I was running Maxxis Ignitor and found them to be a very good all round tyre. I got the pair second hand off ebay for £16 so were also cheap for me.

I use Ignitors all year - kevlar bead soft Exception compound (62), but also have 70's which are harder, as well as some steal bead - they actually work really well, if slightly heavier, and actually use the same compound as the folding ones, which is unusual.

Is it the M and K printed yellow as apposed to white. Or is that protection?

    Hi,

I've just ordered a Cube Ltd 29er which I understand comes with RFR ZX24 29er rims and Schwalbe Rapid Rob 2.25 tyres. I'm looking to buy some semi slick style tyres for my general commute to work and have read that I could use 700c tyres. Is this correct and if so, could anyone please give an indication of the size required and also recommend a budget tyre?

    Thanks in advance.
