Scapin Ivor Italian build, super record, marchisio wheels

This is my new custom Scapin Ivor- with an Italian build as I could possibly put together. Marchisio wheels, Campagnolo super record, Deda superleggero and superleggera stem and handlebar, Campagnolo Pro-fit pedals, and Michelin tyres (!!!- i'm awaiting Vittorio Corsa tyres). Weight- about 6.5 kg.
This build has been quite difficult- i've had to buy on a tight budget and through sourcing the components through Italian companies I've saved around £2000-£2500 on the list price total.
The companies I used or enquired to were:
Chierici Cycles
Cicli Andreis
These two come highly recommended.
Marchisio wheels
Spada wheels/ Spada bikes.
Spec:
Scapin Ivor- custom monocoque frame.
Groupset- Campagnolo Super record
Brakes- Campag dual pivot super record.
Wheels- Marchisio T800 Super 50mm aero
Pedals- Campagnolo Pro-fit Record.
Stem- Deda Superleggera
Bars- Deda Superleggero
Cages- Moro D'elite carbon
In terms of all Italian or not- Scapin hand make their frames from Toray (Asian) carbon fibre.
Marchisio are an italian company who seem to source their wheels from WR Compositi who again use Asian Toray carbon but make their wheels in Italy- Marchisio then add some very nice touches that you can't get from other manufacturers like a quick release sprocket hub- this allows you to swap your wheels over to another bike with a quick change of sprocket (literally 2 seconds) without having to undo the lock nut and re-torquing (check out youtube for this).
Deda- well i accept these are probably made in china.
Campag- I couldn't put anything else on this build!!
Feel free to rip it apart- but to me its sexy as hell and goes beautifully.
if you want reviews on the Marchisio wheels- these are highly thought of in Italy- check out http://www.bdc-forum.it
I can't fault them- stiff, out of the saddle no brake rub, spin forever with some nice features- plus they have that sexy Italian feel!
Update- I've had a few rides now on the bike and i'm really happy with it. It goes beautifully and follows in the footsteps of the Hysak and Etika- though for me more comfortable. The Super Record took abit of getting hooked in for the rear mech but all in all wasn't as much of a headache as I'd been led to believe. The build itself was fairly easy- slightly loose headset- sorted with a carbon spacer, awkward rear derailleur, and the BB30 cups had to come out twice due to poor campag instructions- otherwise no real issues- I used the Lezyne chain tool rather than the campag one- I really couldn't see the point in spending £160 on a chain tool when the Lezyne one cost £18- worked fine for me.
I love the Campagnolo feel- never thought i'd get sucked into the Campag vs Shimano debate- but for me Super record beats the feel of Dura Ace hands down, its so sharp and definite that its addictive!
The Marchisio wheels seem to get better every time I go out- they are light but really go beautifully.
Pro-fit pedals were an extravangance but again they are very comfortable and the engineering involved in them is pretty stunning.

Love the slack angles! Looks great. How is the deda cockpit for stiffness, I use zero100 stuff at themo and may be changing to the SL stuff, purely for bling but not if its stiff as a wet noodleInsta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Cheers Declan- I will.
Nap- it isn't super stiff- if you really push the bars you do get flex but you have to be pushing hard to get it- it doesn't take too much away from the ride- looks good tho!!0 -

Top of the seat post looks wierd, what is that red bit?Yellow is the new Black.0

That would be the seat clamp that slots over the top of the integrated seat post/mast.0 -

Lovely stuff.
I would go with a white Fizik Kurve as they have anodised red rails that would match the seat clamp perfectly and then a pair of white hoods to balance it up. (although mine looked pretty good with all black saddle and cockpit but can't find a pic to demonstrate)
I hope the Vittorias are all black ?
I used Cilcli Andreis and also found them easy too deal with and a whole lot cheaper than the UK importers.

Sold mine by the way, purely because I didn't like the big 12k weave

Spasypaddy- it rides beautifully- its not an out and out racer but its set up for speed and to an extent comfort- the Hysak or Etika is the one that is full on in your face racer. So it feels great when hitting the gas, but also on a recent 75miler- felt fresh at the end. When climbing though is when you get the most benefit- it weighs around 6.7kg and along with the stiffness it charges up hills.
Smiddsy- appreciate your honesty- however the pic doesn't really complement what Scapin have done- they've added anodised red at different points around the bike- usually at contact points- e.g. braze on, drop outs etc. This attention to detail up close is beautiful and i'll put more pics up to show- but each to his own.
Galatzo- it was your thread mate that made me certain to use Cicli Andreis- i had contacted them before but was a little scared at transferring £2k to their bank account with no knowledge of them or their company- when I saw you had used them i went ahead. The VIttorias are all black mate- i was weighing up the amount of white I wanted and find white bar tape a pain to keep clean but the fizik kurve is a good shout.0 -
Agree with white tape being a pain so I use white hoods - go on try it with a Kurve.25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0

The bike is nice, it is the hideous seat clamp thingy that I object to.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

Love this. Used to drive past the Scapin factory on the way from Treviso airport to my Dad's home town, have wanted one ever since - that and a Pegoretti (Dario is from same town as my Dad). They used to do a carbon / steel mix with steel main tubes (I think). Needs some Tiso and WR Compositi components for the full boutique effect.0

Friend of mine recently bought himself a Pegoretti. It's amazing, utterly amazing.0 -

Cheers mm1- great to see another Scapin lover! I'd love a Pegoretti- just the huge price tag! I did look into Tiso and Wr Compositi- and the Marchisio wheels are apparently made by WR Compositi. In regards to Tiso- I just didn't like the look of their groupset compared to SR, and so went with the Campag. If they had a really sexy groupset i'd of gone with Tiso for sure- just because i like to try and support the smaller firms- hence Scapin, Marchisio on this build.0 -
Lovely, but the white wall tyres kill it for me. I'm out.0

looks fabulous. You don't see many of them on a club run0
