    Yes.

Tried the free trial if you're wondering how I didn't pay for it. I think it would be worth the £4 a month, but only if you have a HRM or power meter (preferably both). If you don't have either of these it's pretty much pointless.

I have no idea what's going on here.

I find it useful and i don't mind given money for a great app and one that I use so regularly.

Had a free trial. Definitely not worth the money, if I'd have paid.

..Yes and No...took the free trial....was keen to see age-related results (I'm 55 and a half, you know..)...still not winning anything!
..as others have said, unless you use hrm/power meters, its probably not worth it, though its such a good tool, I think, its deserves supporting...(got my consience going now....)

Took free trial saw no difference in anything. Not worth it for me.

    No and Don't know.

I use Golden Cheetah instead which is great for data analysis, if that's your thing. Strava's a bit too smoothed due to the GUI.

The only thing I get from Strava is the ability to see what my coached riders are doing, but I then get the .FIT file if I actually want to analyse their rides.

I got a free month when I registered my HRM. Thought it was nice but unnecessary. Tried to buy an extra month as was training for my firs 100 mile sportive and it was relatively useful. I then accidentally clicked to buy a full year. Doh.

Anyway, a few months down the line it's actually really becoming useful. You can set weekly goals and specific segment goals which I now base my training around. Gives motivation to get on the bike and motivation to get better. I set a mixture of big and small targets via Strava now and find it really useful.

The ability to sort a leaderboard by weight category and all the other nonsense you get is, of course, absolutely pointless, but there is a reason to pay $3 a month for it I'd say.

    No.

Too little additional benefit for Premium, only target setting, suffer score and gpx downloading that are at all useful.

Not sure.... I have an HRM, doesn't really give me any more information than any of the other apps / websites out there.

I do enjoy the whole strava package though, somewhere someone has to provide those services, and that costs $$$.

As others have said, for me there isn't anything I think as special with the premium version.

I like Strava so I'm happy to contribute to the service to keep it well maintained and ad free; it's the price of 2 beers a month, hardly worth worrying about in my book.

As for the analysis stuff, goals stuff etc. I hardly ever use them.

    - Yes today (unfortunately).
    - Definitely not if you don't own a £1350 power meter.

It wasn't until I paid for a years subs that I realised most of the extra features STILL won't work unless you have a power meter! I wish Strava told me that before I clicked on buy.

The only difference I get with the premium package is a different map to see where I cycled and it's not that good to be honest. And you can set yourself a weekly target distance, but you could do this math in your head to see how much more you need to cycle.

For running, the only difference is I get to type in manually my fastest times, I had to flick backwards and forwards to find these. The free version of Endomondo does this automatically for you.

If you are a triathlete with a Garmin 910, swimming is still badly neglected on Strava.

Segment goals, weekly goals and the new route creator are pretty useful features. I also like the suffer score to see what zones you've been in. For £3.84 a month it's nice to have this info in one place.
  • Yes - just because I think it's brilliant and I love what it gives me. I don't use the premium features but I'm paying because I actually want to give something back to something that makes my riding so much more fun.

I think thats a very valid comment, not thought about it that way.

Had the free trial and since I don't have a HRM or cadence it was a bit pointless.
  • WASTE OF $$$$...I've had mine for 4 months and not worth a dime.

no need - download Golden Cheetah for free and get loads more analysis and youre not locked in to an online resource and all the ride data stays with you...

I did however never intend on doing so but once I got a garmin with all the bells and whistles on and Strava gave me a free month I missed a few features and figured it was worth the money. If however Strava hadn't given me a free month I don't think I would have ever bothered.
