I received a brand spanking new Canyon Ultimate AL 7.0 over the weekend and during assembly I noticed some marks on the carbon fiber forks, links to which are below.

This all looks a little messy to me, is it purely cosmetic or is there something structural within the carbon causing the problem? I've sent an email off to Canyon with links to the pictures but no doubt it will take them a couple of days to get back to me, will be gutted if the bike has to go back.

Thanks in advance guys.

PS Not been out on it yet :(

Lovely bike, pity about the little blemishes. The last 2 pics definitely just look like cosmetic marks on the finish. You are right to go back and question them though, this bike is a lot more money than I'm allowed to spend ;)

That's what naked carbon can look like unfortunately. Wiggle used to include high res images of the naked carbon finish on the Focus Cayo so fewer people would think it was a fault when they received their bikes. Just console yourself with the fact you've saved a few grams in paint.

Huge kudos to Canyon, they have got back to me within 30 minutes with a link that is already available on their website (see below).

Looks like it is naked carbon indeed and in no way defective.

Thanks guys, I guess I can take it out a run now :)
