Shimano Tiagra Cassette Swap to Ultegra

I am currently running Tiagra throughout. I would like to use an Ultegra cassette as it has the ratios I want, a little lighter, and I can slowly upgrade my drivetrain.

My question is this.: Is the HG chain (compatible with the HG-50 cassettes) suitable for use with an Ultegra cassette? Of course I'm swapping 9spd for 9spd.

Has anyone else gone this route; slowly upgrading components?

Thank you.

Yes. Unless it is worn out.

dont forget to use the spacer that comes with the Ultegra cassette. you will need it.

  • I've got a few spacers in my box. It all arrives tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on.

    Thank you.

no you use the spacer that comes with the cassette that makes it the same width as the tiagra. you will need to set up the gears again.
