Present Help!
Hi all. First time poster here so be gentle please!
I'm looking to purchase my girlfriend her first mountain bike. She wants to give it a go, and would be using it for woodland trails (Forest of Dean to start) to start with, possibly looking to take on more technical stuff later on.
Ideally i'm thinking a hardtail, either 26 or 29er - whichever is better for the complete beginner.
My budget for the bike is approx £800, which I know isn't a lot but should be able to get her something to get started on for now.
As for my partner she's slim build around 5'9 tall if that affects bike choice?
I've lost track of the mtb world for a good few years now, so don't know where to start with decent frames or components now! So i'm coming to the experts in the hope you can recommend some bikes for me, so i can give her the treat she deserves.
Anything else you need to know just ask.

Is it a surprise present? I would recoomend visiting a local shop and trying some for size. The Boardman range at Halfords is excellent.0
