Problem with mapping on Bryton rider 50

Got a Bryton rider 50 from halfords on a deal. Set up went ok. Put in sd card that came with it with uk maps on and typed in keycode. Trouble is I cant zoom in on the map. Zoom out and I get all of europe on the screen and fully zoomed in shows most of mainland uk. Been in contact via email with bryton and tried a few things but getting nowhere. Anyone had any similar issues?

I have exactly the same problem except I bought my Rider 50 from the Halfords website on July 24th. Went through the setup and input of map key etc, result is same as you - map only shows whole of UK on maximum zoom and navigation is unusable. I have tried reinputting the map key through the Settings/Map/ License code menu option. The code is accepted, the device restarts, and the result is the same as before (no usable map or navigation) and Settings/ Map/ Information returns "no map is used".
If I repeat this process with the SD card removed, the result is the same ! Same result after a soft reset as well. Could be either the SD card is duff or the SD card reader in the device is faulty or has not initialised. Maybe a hard reset would cure the problem but I don't know how to do that.
Not good as I need the device to find my way home on August 4th after the RideLondon 100 event ...
I have emailed Bryton tech support and await a response on Monday.0 -
Good luck,
After a series of emails backwards and forwards with bryton I took mine back to halfords for an exchange. Support got me trying all sorts including trying a spare microsd card and redownloading the mapping software from their website. Last message suggested trying spare card as it could have been the devices card reader. I responded that didn't work and then got no further replies. When i returned it to halfords i was told they had non in stock so would refund my money and i would have to reorder from their website. I pointed out the price had gone up but they said they would honour it in store.
I won't be getting another bryton even though i liked the device. I'm getting a garmin 800 and will put open street mapping on it. It's a bit more expensive but better supported. And it won't be bought from halfords either.0 -
Hello Graham
Thanks for the information. I heard back quickly from Bryton tech support and was sent the URL to download the mapping files as the 4GB card supplied turned out to be corrupt or empty when I put it into a card reader on my PC. Copied the mapping files both onto the 4GB SD card supplied and another SD card of my own. Initially these did not work either but then I discovered that if the SD card is pushed REALLY FIRMLY into the slot it will register. Success ! The device restarted itself and the UK map came up on the display and I am a happy bunny again. Remains to be seen if the card will stay in place after a long bumpy ride of course.
So if anyone else has this problem:
1. Check that the SD card supplied has readable data by plugging it into the card reader on your PC. Bryton tech support will supply a URL to download the data if your card is corrupt.
2. Make sure the card is pushed right into its little slot and make sure the waterproof cover is correctly located and pressed fully home.0 -
I had exactly the same problem, it turned out to be failure to ensure SD card was completely pushed in, stubby fingers with nails chewed to the bone are not helpful. There is a definite click when it is seated correctly. After I sussed that, all worked fine. Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

The map code is on the Navteq Maps sticker on the outside packaging of the box.0
