Hello All,

Just had my three year old Kula Supreme robbed, so time to look for a replacement. Haven't looked at bike tech in the last three years, i've just ridden. So now it's time to dive back into bike porn and my word what changes there's been.

Riding 80% XC, single track, lanes, some light downhill, enjoy the climbs, dark peak stuff (basically i've lost my bottle :? ) woods at the back of the house stuff. I'm 5'9" and i've a hankering for a short travel full suss between 2-2.5k. What would you recommend, I'm guessing i'm too much of a short arse for a 29, but maybe not with a 100mm.

Happy taking something built already, happy with building my own based on what people would recommend, frame and fork wise. Not to much of a bike snob, so would go for a bargain 2012/2011 model if best value.

Thoughts and thanks and if anyone sees a bright yellow and white Kona riding round rotherham, do let me know.

Can't fault my Canyon Nerve XC 9. Came in at around £1900 a year or so back. Now called the Nerve AL but the same bike. 120mm both ends and goes up and down stuff nicely. 11.5kg means its lighter than all but the carbon framed stuff too.

    5'8" here on a small frame - 16.5"
  • A Giant Anthem X 29er can be had for about the same price of a Canyon if you get the obligatory 30% off.
