Hello
Firstly I'm Marc
I'm new to this got back on a bike about 2 months ago after about 7 years and loving it commute everyday then days of head into rother valley

I've started haven problems over last few days with my chain coming down hill at speed,
It starts to "sag" on the top and get caught Between my frame and rear wheel, it stays in the same gear and doesn't come off the gears,
Also I've found since this i cant get into some gears
Front gears I can't get into my highest gear (tried adjusting cable tension as there was a lot of play in it)
Rear gears It seems to skip 2nd gear when shifting up through the gears but when shifting down it goes in?

I am quite technically minded and did all my repairs my self on my old bike but I'm just stumped

Regards

Marc

the sagging will be drag in the freehub/freewheel.

fixing it depends on what you have. but generally more use helps.

read Parktools on gear set up. Front sounds like more tension needed as nothing else should have changed.

rear again could be tension or just poor set up.

  • Thank you sorry took me ages to reply had a busy week
Park tools worked a treat, what a great site it is

So don't i need to worry about the sag?

Maybe, maybe not. Like Nick said, sometimes a little more use will free it up. But the worst case scenario is that your freehub is dying.
