Was out for a ride yesterday and decided to take on Kop hill, i made it to the top although the rest of the ride home into a headwind was a bit of a struggle. Once i downloaded the ride to Strava i was amazed to see only 303 Strava members have ridden this hill (160th not bad for an old boy). It is a well known hill and is used as a car/motorcycle hill climb event each year, just wondered why so few people have used it compared to some others which have been used by well over 1000 locally, any thoughts?

I've ridden round there a few times. Would hazard a guess that on the other side is the Whiteleaf climb and as its a bit more well known (features in 100 greatest climbs book) most people go up that and come down Kop Hill (thats what I did).

I love coming down Kop Hill, best was at 57.6mph - didnt feel scary as its so straight...

We usually come down it, turn left at the junction then climb back to the start of Kop, and do that 3 times for training.

I have never actually climbed up it though. As simona says, we come from Whiteleaf to start.

I've lived in the area for over twenty years and have so far managed to avoid riding up Kop Hill. Ridden down it plenty of times though. :D

We use Whiteleaf as part of our hilly TT course and that is bad enough, and late Autumn we use Kingston Hill which is absolutely horrible.
