Front derailleur 32mm to fit a Stiffee??

A friend has given me his old SRAM X9 front derailleur (32mm)

I currently have an SRAM X5 but I believe my Cove Stiffee needs a 34.9mm fitment. Im not certain though.

Can anyone confirm? Maybe it will fit?

Wrap a piece of paper round the tube, marking one circumference, measure the circumference and diuamater is that divided by 3.14......

If a 31.8 is too small, then it's a dead cert it will be the next standard size up of 34.9 unless it's a (rare now) 28.6mm.
