More puncture resistant tyre than Panaracer SwoopAllTrails?

Hi

I realise I'm always going to get punctures but these SwoopAllTrails (non folding steel bead) seem to have magnets in them that attract screws/nails/tacks from all around. I'm sure there must be stronger ones out there.

If there's not a specific tyre you'd recommend then which construction resists better? Do the Kevlar ones really reduce the frequency of flats? I'm after an XC 26"x2.0/2.1 tyre that I would describe a half/three quarter knobblys.

I use the same brand but CG XC.

Like my old Fire Pros, I have never had a puncture for ages, maybe one every few years, around 1000 miles a summer on forest tracks, rocky single tracks.

They are very fast rolling, good cornering, not great in mud but they cope well enough. I'm planning to switch to Beavers for winter.

No idea about the compounds so can't comment.

Kevlar refers to the bead (folding) so makes no difference to the puncture resistance.
They do generally have better compounds (grippier) but again, not puncture resistance unless they have a barrier (Maxxis call it Silkworm).
Where do you ride that's strewn with screws/nails/tacks.
None of those on my local trails.

OK. As the add in protective strips were made of Kevlar, I assumed Kevlar constructed tyres would reduce punctures.

At what pressure are you guys running your tyres?

I ride my mountain bike as a daily commute bike as well so I've had punctures from forest tracks, NCN cycle paths to the A4 (particularly scary as it was a sudden deflation in the middle of traffic). Anything from a large screw to the minutest thorn easily penetrates the rubber. I've had three since last posting. I reckon I'm averaging less than one hundred miles per puncture (3/4 rides).

I've tried Slime's protective strips, but they slip around to the sides & created pinch punctures at the overlap. Also used inner tubes filled with some kind of gunk (latex?). I've had variable degrees of success with these, however in this recent hot weather the compound refuses to set properly, and when the tube gets covered in this slime it's impossible to get it clean enough for a puncture patch to stick.

20psi front 30psi rear. 13.5st, not had a puncture for years and ride all surfaces, around 50 miles a week.

I actually chose panaracer because of this, my old fire xc pro tyres were the best I ever had so stuck with the brand, although that's probably means nothing.

try specialized crossroads armadilo 1.9, these tyres are bomb proof, i used them for a year, then gave them to my son, who has used them for over a year, no punctures at all, and they have hardly any wear, only downside they are quite heavy, 750g ish i think, i used them with latex tubes and had no probs
