Knee pads you can put on and off without removing shoes

With all this warm weather, its very sweaty riding up hill in my knee pads but I like having them for the down. Can anyone recommend a knee pad that you can quickly put on and off without taking off your shoes, i.e. it just straps on rather than sliding on. Are there any strap on only knee pads that stay securely in place?

Raceface ambush d30 pads allow that.

Yup. Comfy too, and you won't find better armour than the D30 stuff.

I liked the look of the Demon Hyper Knees, but couldn't find any stockists.

    Sorry for hijacking post...

Ben - shim didn't turn up in time but thanks for trying. In Alpe d'Huez now. The local shop had 10 shims but not the size I needed - luckily the Trek boys are shacked up in the same hotel as me and Justin Leov's (Trek World Racing) mechanic showed me the Coke can trick - looked like he'd done it plenty of times before so all sorted. Didn't get a chance to do a practice run so doing it proper enduro style and just turing up tomorrow morning and riding...

No worries Felix. I tried. It will be waiting for you when you get home. 3 days delivery my a**e. And they wonder why no-one cares if they privatise the postal service. Anyway, the coke can trick should see you right. Don't worry about paying me, it was cheap enough, if I ever need another one I'll look you up and you can buy me one :)

Mountain Trax in Wokingham do them... bit of a schlep from W yorks mind. They are the BEST pads though by a long, long way, assuming you don't mind that they aren't the coolest temp wise. So comfy and such an amazing fit, using anything else seems weird afterwards.

They're not showing them on their website? I've ordered some from CRC, since they have their free returns service. Got a pair of Raceface Ambush, 661 Evos and Nukeproof Criticals sat here to choose from. I would've liked to try on the Demon's but nowhere even remotely local stocks them.

Yeah they definitely sell them. Their website does suck though.

Just noticed that the latest version is lighter round the back and sides (so probably less hot) but I am not sure it fully opens anymore.

EDIT: just been to the garage and err, mine don't open either. Doh. Still a better fit than the Ambush though, although of course that might just be my legs.

Good man. Appreciate the effort. You've got some shim credit!

Btw - puncture in the qualifiers (at about 2600m) gutted. Came 82nd out of my group (of 105) so made the second to last wooden spoon race tomorrow morning. The qualifier race is a great descent. Not looking forward to tomorrow - the first 5km is covered in deep snow...

    (coke can did it's job)
