Like to mention my 8 year old son Alec did the 26 mile route. Managed all the hills under his own power.
tripled his previous longest distance of 9 miles into the bargain!

Now he wants to do some more.
    Very proud Dad...

Yep, I saw you guys, passed you just before the roundabout before the drop back to the race course.
    chapeau to your lad !!!

Was a hot day for it, I missed out on gold by 4mins !!! My Garmin data shows a significant step change about 15miles from the end, in my speed and cadence. I was getting pain on the outside of my knees, so couldn't do anything more than sit and spin. The annoying thing is that I sort of expected it (new shoes, thinner sole, change in saddle height) so bought some paracetamol which fends off the pain perfectly. I forgot to bring them along though

That's my story and I'm sticking to it
(The new shoes are fantastically comfy though !)

Did anyone else see the guy have a blowout and the passing TVR driver panic and stop to check his car ?

I managed the 44 miler in 4:09 hrs which I was quite pleased with as this was part three of my "I shouldn't get talked into three sportives in three weekends" Trilogy.

If I had come to this event a bit fresher then I think I could have broken 4 hours. Excuses excuses

One question nobody seems to be able to answer is why is it called the Magnificat and what is the significance of the UCI Approval?

This was my first sportive and it was the most fun I've had on my bike in ages. I was a bit apprehensive about my abilities as I ride a single speed bike so I only did the short course. But I comfortably got a gold time standard. Now I just want to do more events like this, and maybe buy a more suitable bike..

I had no idea this event was on until you all went past me on early on the Sunday Morning (Newbury area).
Looked like a great event and the routes looked well thought out.
I will probably enter this one next year.

If I remember rightly it was a Bit of a tough day to be peddling, how did the 125mile EPIC lot get on?

I think the heat was the worst part - I can only comment on the 82 mile route, but it was really nicely balanced. Rolling and a challenge, but not ridiculously hard. Very well organised and the feed stations were excellent.

Epic was fine but i think my week in the Alps doing the Marmotte put me in good stead for the heat and I found all the climbs very manageable again after a week bashing out 10% alpine cols but perhaps a bit of an extreme training programme

Still brilliantly organised and very enjoyable, with any luck i'll be back again next year perhaps with my lead out train again
