Jockey Wheel Noise

Has anyone got any tips on reducing Jockey wheel noise? I have everything set up on my bike pretty much perfectly as far as I can tell. Gear changes are immediate and smooth, there is no running on the FD, the chain is the right length etc. Despite all this the jockey wheels make a bit of a noise when I'm in the big ring and this has always been the case. On the smaller ring the setup is dead quiet. I can only assume the higher tension and faster chain speed on the big ring is causing the noise.

Any ideas?

Assuming they are not worn, take the jockey wheels out and give them a good clean and relube the bushings with a thick chain lube (Not grease). Reinstall everything, relube chain and they should be quieter.

Not grease? I have always used that on mine. Should I redo with lube? If so what is thick enough? Just normal wet lube? Squirt?
  • I'll give it a go to see if it works. To be honest everything is pretty new as I upgraded the groupset not too long back so it will still have the factory lube on the bushes. I also found the previous derailleur made exactly the same noises. One thing that might be a factor is I like to run with the minimum of lube on the chain to keep things clean - perhaps a bit more lube will be quieter.
