Haeding to the Alps next week and not being the best of climbers and graviterily challenged :-/ I'm try to get the best climbing gears I can without the need to change chainset and shifters for a triple.

I'm running standard compact 50-34. Shimano state 28 is the most the rear mech can run yet my mate has a Canyon Roadlite that came with a 11-32 as standard.

What is the REAL most I can run. with my current setup?

Your mate most likely has a different rear D than you. You most likely have a "short" cage and he probably has a "long" cage. Find out before you buy a cogset that won't work.

I have a 5700 short cage rear mech running a 30, you will need to adjust the B screw though, you will be able to get a Tiagra 12-30 cassette for £20, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=67228

I do believe 105 rech mechs can run to 32T, but I run a 12-30 cassette in mine.
