Hi
After many years of not cycling i have decided that i would like to get back into MTB. I bought a Diamond Back M05 about 4 years ago to just pootle around on and commute. I would like to pootle further now and start going off road etc. My question is will this bike be ok to start with (i need to build my fitness up)? The other half is loathed that i consider purchasing anything at the moment and would rather i see how i go on this and them upgrade in 6 months or so. I gather from my research that the componants on my DB are v low end, is it worth upgrading anything on it or shall i just hang fire and pootle away until im allowed the credit card?
thanks in advance!

It will be fine for basic paths and the likes, but will struggle when the going gets rougher - the fork is a stinker to be honest!0

That's what I thought (with my limited knowledge)....I'm also struggling to find any groups in the Worcestershire area to tag along to, plus being female I find it a little daunting0

Maybe start a thread? We also have a womens' section which is worth a try.
Back to the bike: I would see how you get on with it for now, but if you do start getting more serious I would by a new one (not really worth upgrading).0 -
Thank you very much for replying...I'm looking at a Carrera Kracken but it'll take some buttering up of the other half0

Forget butter, offer him bacon and beer wearing not a lot and you'll get anything you want.

I pitched it as an activity we could do together that doesn't cost the earth (we used to train karate but the subs got v expensive) and also promised him trips to country pubs.... He's happy with my cast off diamond back....I get a new bike....happy days!0
