looking for a decent first bike around the £500 mark.
Have narrowed it down to the above two bikes, the kraken is £449 and the boardman is on offer at £584.
Having read the reviews the kraken appears to be a very capable sub £500 bike but is the boardman worth the extra £135 quid ?

If you can see yourself using your bike a decent amount I'd go for the boardman, better brakes and a really decent fork for the price, I own the kraken but knackered two forks and getting spares is a nightmare, once at llandegla and the other one at antur(but a hardtail at a downhill centre isn't going to do the bike any good!) However if your not going to ride it too hard I'd go kraken, the only thing original on mine from the shop is the crank arms and the frame! :shock:0

I did look at the fury but its maybe a bit over the top for what i'll use it for.
Will probably be mainly mix of trails and tracks etc, nothing to too extreme.0 -
The Boardman is the best bike here.0
