Right then, I'm off to Wales riding down at coed y Brenen or whatever it's called next month so want to get some good tyres for the trails down there as currently running on some maxis DTH which I know will be no good down there as they are the tyres I use for getting to work.

So what. Would like is people's advice on some tyre set ups that are good to use for the usual trails and don't have a too bad rolling resistance I've been looking at some but it's starting t hurt my head reading all the reviews and getting know where.....

Can you let me know what you guys run or what you find good?! :)

Schwalbe Nobby Nic on the front and Racing Ralph on the rear are my tyres of choice. Go for the snake skin version on the rear to give a bit more side wall strength.

Everyone will have their own option so thats just my preference.

What name is on the tyres is less important than the model within the name.

There are terrible, plasticky, wire beaded Contis and there are Black Chilis. Very different tyres, same make and almost model. Very different prices.

    What is your budget?

Budget of probably around £30/35 per tyre.... dont mind paying if I can get some that will work well for what I want :)
Cause for example I want to have a good rolling speed with them but not be sliding off rocks and roots when on trails that are getting wet.

I dont know whats what with tyres so help is much appreciated!!

Just switched from nobby nics evo tubed to continental rubber queen, black chilli tubeless. Best thing I have ever done, bit more than your budget, but what a set up. Felt I slipped around a bit much on the nobby nics.

Usually riding hamsterley/ glentress and the queens have been awesome!

Nobby Nics are useless in Wales show them a route or rock they have nothing, show them that in the wet there awful.

at the moment on specialised butcher control front purgotry rear, good all round set up not to heavy great grip up front, and £30 a tyre.

Second everything that has just been said.
NN are shit. Switched to Specialized combo 4 weeks ago and they are amazing, very light, heaps of grip.
