I personally use the Pure Lubes from Halfords which have served me well, dry lube in the dry and wet lube in the wet, then degrease my chain after every proper ride. GT 85 whilst having lubricating properties isn't an out and out lube0

Everything except WD40, which also isn't a lube.
Random spraying rarely achieves anything except pain and suffering.I don't do smileys.

i just use gt85 after cleaning bike to displace water, wipe clean and put dry or wet chain oil on.
i'm currently using finish line dry chain lube which works fine for me.0 -

As above don't use GT85 or WD40 on your chain, they are just water displacers and not actually a lube. Ones I have used that are pretty good are Muc off Wet (smells weird though) and white lightning epic ride. I'm not totally convinced that dry lubes actually work!Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)

Dry lubes are fine if you use a good one, I tried Muc Off and found it was poor and attracts dirt as much as any wet lube, Finishline dry is good but needs to be reapplied quite often, best one is Squirt any dirt gets caught in the wax and either falls off or can be brushed off. For wet I have found Finishline or Pure Lubes to be fine.0

Can I ask a really basic question?
Can you use dry lubes in wet conditions and vice versa?? I know dry lubes dry to the chain but do they still work in wet conditions? I'm using Squirt over the summer and find it fab but not sure if it's appropriate come winter (august..)0 -
I use it all year round. Just needs applying a bit more often in wet weather. Like everything really.
It's fine as it stays inside the rollers where you need lube.I don't do smileys.

Wet lube is just nasty stuff anyway, especially the thick sticky ones - just glues gunk to the chain and wears everything out quicker.I don't do smileys.

cheers dad. Aye i have a bottle of green goop - might be finish line and it's very thick. Was saving it for the winter but might just stick to the squirt.
With the dry weather, I ain't been cleaning my chain much - maybe once a week (I do three or four 60-90 min runs a week). Should I be cleaning or lubing after each run? Chain seems fairly clean and runs okay - although when I clean it a fair bit of crud comes off....0 -
I never specifically clean mine. Hose it if I clean the bike, and give it a wipe, otherwise I just lube it.
Use Squirt properly and any gunk on the outside just falls off.I don't do smileys.
