Fox CTD Forks?

Hi,
Still trying to find the right forks and wading through the options
Has anyone tell me if the 2013 Fox 32 Float CTD 100mm is worth REALLY blowing my budget? found some for £500 and my (current) alternative is the 2012 SID RCT3 at £100 less (which is also blowing my budget lol) - both on 9mm QR.
I think the only ones actually in my budget are the 2012/2013 Reba RLT & 2013 SID RLT
thanks,
Dan

If they're the range topping factory Fox forks, with the Kashima Coating and trail adjust then yes they're worth it and go for the Fox's. If not then the sid's would be a better fork for the cash.0

got the trail adjust which is the CTD.... no mention of the coating just says stanchions are hard anodised.
when you say the SID's im guessing you mean then RCT3 and not the other RLT's i was also looking at?

Four threads on pretty much the same topic causes some confusion. What might be clear in your head isn't in others.I don't do smileys.

Sounds like basic Fox's to me, the top CTD forks have another dial which adjusts the level of compression damping in Trail mode, called Trail Adjust. Without this and the Kashima coating, which is a super low-friction dark gold coating they're pretty average tbh when compared to Sid's which cost less. Comparable performance between the Fox and the RCT3 but considering the Sid is cheaper I'd go for those instead.0

Fox are never worth the money they are just over priced. The Sid and even the Reba are better forks.
CTD gives you less adjustment than the equivalent Rockshox fork.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

sorry tbh its busting my brain somewhat and searching for advice seems to only give me more questions than answers

Ignoring personal preference such as Me not liking Fox's damping, I always find Fox forks are way over priced and would normally recommend Rock Shox.
Do you really want a super light weight fork? If yes go for the SID. If no go for the Reba, it has very similar internals to the SID its just a bit heavier.
I prefer the old RLT system as I like to set up the fork and leave it, I don't use lockouts etc while riding so the RCT3 system is no good for me. You might think differently thought.
Got links to forks you're looking at ?0 -
RCT3 still has full adjustable comp damping though.
I'd get whatever SID is the cheapest.0 -

ok, i was wrong (frequently on this topic) - no trail adjust...... does that mean that 'trail' is just a non-adjustable preset? :shock:0 -
Nope you'll just have 3 damping level choices, climb, trail and descend, where as the Factory forks have an extra two settings for the trail, bringing it to 5. While not as adjustable as the old Fox RLC damper it's not half as bad as people say it is, just not as good as the top end Fox forks, which do command a premium. Personally I think Fox are worth it for the Factory forks, I prefer the feel of the damper and air spring over Rockshox.0

If I understand the RCT3 damper... on that I can do the lock, fully open or adjust the middle with the silver dial?

RCT3 is by RockShox - has a fully adjustable low speed compression dial, with three seperate setting for lock, platform and open.
CTD is just three setting full stop.
CTD adjust is three setting, with the middle one being adjustable.0 -

thanks, i do feel like im almost there LOL
just to continue down...
RLT is the adjustable compression dial lock to open with a adjustable threshold blow off gate
RL is the same as RLT but the threshold blow off gate is factory set?

Depends on the year of RL ;-). Some ARE adjustable! Have to check to the spec, it will say.0

The 2012 Reba RL's that Merlin are selling cheap have a fixed floodgat which is fortunately set about where I like it anyway. Nice fork.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
