Every time the road twists, every radio earpiece in the bunch will crackle with 22 directeurs sportifs barking out the same order in unison – “Be in front.” Thomas Voeckler, for one, has regularly blamed such instructions for whipping up the tension in the bunch still further and increasing the chance of crashes.

A Frenchman has just popped into my office to store a giant sausage (and some cheese) in my fridge  and no that is not a euphemism.

Damn straight. Don't stop with the guff.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Wow Belkin are trying not to do a Rabobank. Right up at the front, determined not to be on the wrong side of any splits.

How many times does he say 'put the hammer down' in the whole Tour?

I wonder how common is it that a rider completes the entire without suffering one puncture :?:

If you think about it, putting the hammer down is exactly the opposite to what he presumably means. If you put the hammer down, you're not hammering any more, are you?

I suspect it's actually more common that you'd think....excluding crashes there are about (pffft) 10 a day?

so thats 210 punctures in total for 190 odd riders...I doubt it's exactly one each?

When the riders are flat out like this coming up to a mass sprint, if you are off the back there is zero way you are getting back on without drafting a car.

    Cav doing it nicely.

Photo of Cav winning the sprint with a ripped and dirty jersey would be Gold. Please.
I just hope he has shaved as he had a lot of it yesterday and it was not pretty on the close-ups.

WOWOWOW you see Cav do that bunny hop at the roundabout? Claaaaaaaaaaaaaaasy.

I have to say I'm loving Phil and Paul at the moment. Good info, very few errors, they're having a good start to the Tour.

I've onyl watched 15 minutes of stage 2 but they were all over the shop then. Mis-identfiying very famous riders, talking rubbish and managing to not be able to count to 4.
