Just picked up my new bike today along with some new 50mm Carbon tubular rims. I have not had chance to sort out setup yet and will take more pics when carbon rims are on and I can get it outside for better snaps

Bike - Bianchi Sempre Pro Ultegra (God will hate me for not getting Campag again) - €1800
Rims - Veltec Speed 6.0 50mm Carbon Tubulars. 1310g total. - €500

Wife owns my ass for foreseeable future. :(

If you get on the bike there is no way your wife will reach your ass. Thats some saddle height. Can you explain your position, height etc.
Bike looks great but I agree that God will hate you for putting shimano on a thing of that beauty.

Just said I didn't have chance to sort out setup. Not got pedals or other rims on yet. That is pretty much as I collected it from the shop. I Will get around to that tomorrow.

Looks like a great bike, you must be keen to get out on it.

Those Veltec wheels look interesting - I'm guessing you got them in the sale for that price of 500Euros?

Cheers for comment. Wheels I have only ever seen here in Germany. They RRP at around 950 euros but I got them on eBay. The speed 8.0 look awesome on a bike in the flesh but wasn't looking for them to be too big (80mm +)

They are very light and the hubs are smooth. Maybe not Zipp standard but up their with a lot of the competition at the price.

Thanks for the info SmoggySteve (is that a reference to Boro?)
Whats the breaking like with them?
A german guy I know has an aluminium set of Veltec wheels, not sure of the exact type, that he trains on and he seems to like them a lot.

Would like to see a pic of your Sempre with the Veltecs on!

Lovely bike Steve, where are you in Germany?

Hope tyres and brake pads arrive soon so I can fit the rims. I read a few good reviews on the wheels, swayed me away from forking out an extra 290 for a pair of vision trimax which look awesome but soooo pricey.

Originally from boro, living now near mönchengladbach. Pretty flat here and I'm missing the hills. Still, good place to work on my TT riding pace.

    Meet you half way?!?! ;-)
  • Would be interested to hear your feedback after a couple of months riding, I have a 53 cm frame which I got as a crash replacement and am debating whether to keep it for a future build or sell on for a new guitar.

I already have an Infinito which ticks all the boxes. Certainly looks great.

Sure thing. I have only been out twice so far but it feels markedly better than the old Sempre which I am selling on. Front is sharper and more responsive. The old Sempre was brilliant but this is so much better. Shame I couldn't get a Chorus set up but i'm not knocking Ultegra.

I took a long look at the Infinito and was very impressed by it. I just wanted a more race orientated bike again a la the Sempre Pro.

You NEED to get those stickers of the carbon wheels. It's like the Sunday Times using comic sans. Awful.

where did you get one for 1800 euros? Don't they list at £2700 over here in the UK?

I found a shop with it on sale for 2200 euros(ish) and I am also able to claim tax off so that save a few hundred extra. Still, even without the vat saving, 2199 for this is a bargain.

As you mention the UK price, it just helps bolster my thought that UK shops are overly expensive. I would recommend looking at German sites for bikes and compare prices. Alot to UK delivery anyway and the postage cost is nothing compared to the savings sometimes.

One of my pet hates is plain black deep section rims. I could pull them off and stick some Zipp stickers on but that would be fraudulent ;-)

You must be itching to get out on it!

I agree, not a fan of deep section wheels that have been de-stickered either.

Right, Finally got wheels on with new tyres and pedals.

Before anyone suggests in (I'm looking at you Nap D) I am not gonna slam the stem, remove any stickers from the rims or alter its appearance in any way from that of the way I intend to ride it. . I am also aware I put front on wrong way so both Vittoria badges or on opposite sides. Its a bit windy today, and I also had a 2 hour session in the pool before coming home from work so I am ball-bagged but looking forward to taking it out tomorrow.

Just in case anyone is interested, total weight inc Shimano 105 SPD-SL pedals - 7.24kg

It looks class.... I would say that though as mine is the same frame.... Top tip, get a better water bottle cage, bottles don't half rattle about in it.

    Great bike though...

No worries, Got a pair of Elite Ciussi to stick on it. Saying that, the shorter SiS water bottle seems to fit snug in any bottle cage I have ever used.

Love the bike but for me those wheels are ruining it. I think its the decals. For me I wouldn't want anything to detract from the beauty of the Bianchi frame
