Advice on sub £300 hybrid

Hi all,
I'm jumping on the bandwagon and getting myself a bike after not really riding for about a decade. For now my riding is likely to be the odd short distance of a few miles during the week, and a longer journey every other weekend on trips with my girlfriend/friends (I did survive a 15 mile ride on a borrowed bike recently). These will be starting on the pot-holed roads of London and venturing out on cycle paths and possibly the odd canal path so I think a hybrid will be most suited.
If/when I get bitten by the biking bug seriously I will look at investing more but for now I am trying to limit myself to around the £300 mark.
The options I have discovered so far are:
Decathlon Nework 5 http://www.decathlon.co.uk/mens-nework-5-id_8222609.html#anchor_ComponentProductTechnicalInformation (£269 aluminium frame, steel forks, 24 gears, dynamo lights and panniers, 16.4kg)
Halfords Carrera Crossfire 2 http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_810609_langId_-1_categoryId_165534 (£299 alloy frame, front suspension, 21 gears, 14.7kg)
Specialized Crossrods http://www.cyclesolutions.co.uk/p56033/specialized-crossroads-2013-hybrid-bike (£299 aluminium frame, steel forks, 21 gears)
Any thoughts on these or alternatives?

Something like a Trek FX - secondhand, or previous-year model from Pauls Cycles or similar.

Then when you get into the habit buy a proper road bike or mtb. Or both.Scott Sportster P45 2008 | Cannondale CAAD8 Tiagra 20120
