He’s to be found somewhere here, among the echelons caused by strong winds during the first stage at the Tour d'Azerbaidjan.

Interesting reading about the race - Linus had a mechanical on stage 2 which took him out of GC contention then on stage 3 he was instrumental in his team mates sprint victory. Yesterday he attacked...on the first climb! He wanted to drop the GC guys early doors and did so bar one. On the final clomb he broke a spoke so had to wait for a wheel but the other guy who was with him waited. Big win, big heart - respect.

Worth checking out the official website - its excellent. Photos, stage reports, stage details.
Yesterday would have been an awesome stage to watch - 110km, 3 climbs, attacks from the first km, Linus was solo for a decent portion and with only one other guy for the rest.

The ‘other guy’ was Zakarin, one of the favourites and whose intent was to take the lead on that stage (after the stage Zakarin said “Our plan today was to take the lead in the GC”).
So the ‘other guy’ probably waited for tactical reasons as much as out of any sense of fairness - although Gerdemann did also later say ”Zakarin is a very fair sportman and … has earned the leader’s jersey”.

(Last stage already finished - Zakarin won the whole Tour, Gerdemann the mountains jersey)
