re-engineering of the pivot housing..(my suggestion)
am a slipped-disc (laminectomy)..non hardcore rider...
bought it year 2009 from a downhiller friend but its ok then..only the rear shock marzoochi lockout control is not working..2 years stored under the bed since i go abroad.. but now after re-assembling & some test gutter drops i felt some different crack noise..now, whose fault?..its the death of my wife ducati..

Some poor quality maintenance going on there with those bolt heads - user error maybe?

to me it looks like an over tightening crack.

Looks like it probably originated from the front of a poorly designed pivot housing.

The only upward load on the housing is the rebound damper, looks like a perfectly well designed housing to me.

after the lower pivot crack incident, we observed closely that the rocker arm is between the housing inside. we suggest that the housing should be re-designed solid like the bb, while the bottom rocker arm must be bolted and positioned outside the housing. meanwhile,we are looking here for a good tig welder to re-inforce the housing.

Not sure about the 'we' references I guess english isnt your first language rudilamco. It looks from the photograph that the crack hasnt come from the welding and more than likely from over tightening of the bottom mount on the shock bringing the mounts together. The star head bolt looks badly rounded off as well. I think your frame is dead unfortunately. Shame its a nice frame.
  • [/attachment]here's what we've done to my ducati & be used anyway to our bike to work instead of hanging it on the wall..
according to our tech-bike rider too, who done the welding, its a SMAW process..
am having good time now riding around as if nothing happened..
but could not ride test it on big jumps since am a laminectomy (still on therapy)..
    anyways, thanks for re-do-cut-thing..

Perhaps he is of royalty. Or perhaps he is talking about himself and his friends that are working on the bike.

It's a Ducati. It's broken. Situation normal, lol. Didn't know they made bicycles though - or are they made by someone else and rebadged?
