HI I've been looking at the PX pro carbon ultegra for a while now, but ive just noticed they now have a limited edition TDF bike with sram, and the 50 carbon wheels. For £100 less

Im not suee how this compares to the original ultegra pro carbon? Whether its a better package or not?

Thanks for youroadvice.

Just read through the detailed spec and the differences are right there written out for you.

    Ultegra version has:

-better shifters/mechs (I'd say Rival is more 105 level than Ultegra level - might be wrong though!)
-better chainset (but still not ultegra)
-significantly worse wheels (£130 vs. £350)
-same chain and cassette (not Ultegra... SRAM's cheapest 10speed ones.. Apex/Tiagra level presumably)
    -flashier finishing kit

I'd probably go for the special edition just for the wheels.. but I'd find carbon tubs useful as race wheels.. whereas you might not.. but you could always sell the tubs in the classifieds for maybe £300 and for that kind of money you're getting towards Fulcrum racing 3/Mavic Ksyrium elite/Shimano RS80 etc.

Thanks im not up to speed with Sram spec. Interesting you would go for the limited edition bike. As you mentioned I wouldn't be racing just yet, that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind the upgraded wheels though. If I recall correctly the original bike had more ultegra parts fitted a while back, , thought it was a full ultegra group set, maybe that was the Guru bike?

The picture is misleading since it shows a full ultegra groupset, and also planet-x AL-30 wheels.. when in reality you're getting an FSA chainset and some heavy duty FSA wheels.

They chop and change the spec frequently depending on what kit they can buy in cheapest I suspect.

It's generally said that SRAM kit sits in between Shimano groups. That would in my book make Rival sit between 105 and Ultegra.
