I want to get a spare chain joining link to carry on rides in case of breakages. My new bike has a KMC 10 speed chain - the markings on teh side plates say "KMC", "X10" and (I think - it's tiny writing) "XXSP". I can't see that particular chain in KMC's website (maybe it's a cheaper OE only chain - looks-wise it looks closest to the X10.93, of the chains on the KMC site). Can anyone tell me whether these are the right links please?:

On a related note (and purely out of idle curiosity), while checking the chain markings I noticed that the front larger chainring (FSA Comet 2x10) has a mixture of two different type of teeth, some longer and pointier, some shorter with a flat top, what's the thinking behind that?

    Yes it is 10spd.

    To aid shifting.

That's yes, those are the correct links?

The teeth shapes aid shifting how (not important, I'm just curious how it works)?

Cheers, I would've had a look round at prices once I'd established whether they're the right ones, but thanks for the heads up.

    yes they are 10spd-

nothing else can be said as Evans give no other info.

for more info see KMC.eu site.

So you're saying you don't know whether those are the right links?

Looks like the chain might be an X10 SL (enlarge the pic and it seems to have the same letters on the sideplates):

they are 10spd that is all the info that Evans give. other than reusable. so they could be one of? what is it 3 different reusable 10spd links that they list, all will fit (as they are all the same size,10spd).

    have fun.

KMC here - those are the correct links: CL559R (R = reusable)

The X10 (no weight reduction on pins or plates) with silver outer plates and gray inner plates is the X10.93. The XXSP stamped into the outer plate stands for "Double X Durability" which is the treatment process for the pins for most X series chains.
