888 vs boxxers (and other Qs)

I'm keeping my eye open for a set of replacement forks in the £500 region. Looks like there are generally plenty of 888s and boxxers going second hand, but which ones should I aspire for? The only thing I know about boxxers is that post 2010 they got better with new diameters and dampers. What is the heriachy of the two ranges? Which are air sprung? And of the models out there, which will make a better second hand purchase?

Maybe new?

Is more basic than others, but can be internally tuned. R2C2 gets Misson Control DH damping with quite a lot more external adjustment, World Cup is the air model.0 -

Look on the sites archives as there is to many to list."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

why do most WC boxxers end up converted to R2C2 spec?
The WC is ok but unreliable.
Boxxer RC's are pretty nasty.
Find a good set of R2C2's with service history.
888's are amazing if you can get a good set of RC3 ti's.
Avoid Fox 40's. Unreliable and not that good.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

But in the context if the question the WCs are still the top spec out of the factory."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The WC's may be the top spec but that doesn't mean they work best though I have heard that next years model will be a huge improvement.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
