Nice article - he comes across well there. No better motivation then winning the Tour for your mum. Venga Chris.

The "working class hero" bit is a little tenuous.

Particulaly when the root of the supposed hardship was spending most of their money on fees for Rugby School...
"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

All part of the marketing puff to make him a star here in Britain, and to try to get mainstream public to connect with him as they have with Wiggins.

That's not to say that he doesnt have an interesting back story - certainly an unusual one for a guy riding as a Brit.

A lot of people misunderstand Frenchie. He's really a very sound chap. He says what he thinks regardless, a trait becoming less prevalent in the World, sadly.

Thanks for the link, i'll read that on the train later.

Bit of a fuss in this CW link about Bike Pure, a clean cycling organisation who wanted more buy-in from Froome, that seem to have kicked up a fuss when he didn't contact them. Seems like a stunt to get BP name out there.

Agreed, absolutely, just surprised to see something complimentary about a Sky rider!
