Planning a 'last minute' trip to do Alp d'huez and le marmotte route in early August.

Anyone recommend camp sites or cheap b&b style accommodation for cyclists? I realise it is high season down there & most specialist places are looking booked out & or stretching the budget.

Haven't decided on van hire vs train yet, any first hand accounts on either? If we have a van we'll have somewhere to keep the bikes if camping.

I stayed here, services were quite good:

Located at : Camping Le Colporteur
    B.P. 46 - 38520 BOURG D'OISANS - France
    TEL : 04 76 79 11 44
    FAX : 04 76 79 11 49
    EMAIL : info@camping-colporteur.com
    WEBSITE : http://www.camping-colporteur.com

It might make sense to take a train to Grenoble and then hire a van from there.

Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

Yup, you did a great job there. It has a bike store, a hot tub, sheets you can rent by the hour, and a superbly well equipped dungeon!

No other bedding though, and I'm going to take my own cutlery and a plate, just in case.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

    Bike 1
    Bike 2-A

My group looked into the train option but I think Eurostar have changed the rules on baggage size meaning that it is nearly impossible to take a bike bag/box on their services now. You may want to double check in case we have got it wrong
