what are these bearings for?

these came in a job lot i bought on ebay their marked on side 'skf 608 italy'.od-20mm,id 7.8mm approx,7mm wide approx
are these road bike wheel bearings?front or rear ect?have a set of campag khamsin wheels will these fit?

    the 608 is a common Skate bearing 8 ID 22 OD 7 width.

    but they don't have rubber seals on them or at least the side you can see, not sealed.......... no outdoor use

    so they could be for just about anything

    but they are fitted to DC motors, industrial gear reducers, torque converters and the list is almost endless, most don't see water or soil and are oil bathed

    does that box have a manufacture date of march 1981?

    608 bearings are used on some wheels - some versions of Mavic Ksyrium but wouldn't fancy using an unshielded bearing for anything bike-related. Kamsins do use cartridge bearings, but don't know the size.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    I would not be able to bring myself to throw away useable bearings. I don't know whether to be impressed by your self-discipline or appalled at the waste.

    No, a bit of a crime. They've sat unused for £30 years. If you don't want them give them to someone else please.

    Definitely skateboard bearings. eBay, Middle Age Shred (maybe), or hand 'em out at your local skatepark.
