Well.. I bought a 2011 Cove Stiffee FR to replace my old full sus Scott Octane FX3.

Seems to have some nice components: Rock Shox Revelation 426 RVL ATN forks, SLX crank, Juicy 7 Avid breaks, SRAM X7 front derailleur, Deore hubs etc

The rear mech however is an SRAM X5 which I have noticed has received rubbish reviews.
Worth upgrading?

I know very little about modern bikes so any advice would be well received!

truthfully, if it works i'd use it til it breaks. which may not be very long judging by how long mine lasted

Ha funny you say that as mine makes the noise like it is about to change gear when cycling under load / up hill.

I would rather replace it now and not end up with it falling part and chewing my rear wheel up..

Would you say a long cage X9 would be a good replacement?

I had x9 on my bike for years and it worked ok. personally I prefer shimano, but if you're running sram the x9 is a good mech. long cage cos you have a triple chainring up front yeah?

Full 10 speed SLX groupset (exc. brakes)
avid elixr 5 brakes with 180/160mm rotors
    FUNN seatpost - as it's a weird 30mm size
raceface stem, PRO Koryak 680mm wide bars
150mm Rock shox sector RL forks
Superstar XC430 wheels on Superleggia hubs
    continental vertical tyres

    I think that's it

this is when I first built it up, a few things have changed but you get the idea
