Hey hey.

I suspect my bb is on its way out. Got a 'stuttering' or a slight knock feeling when I pedal. Its not the cranks or the pedals, so I suspect the bb is dieing. I'm not hugely surprised, as I've ridden it 5 days a week since January.

So new one it is. How do I know what size I need tho? The manufacturers Website doesn't mention a specific size. Just square tapered. From looking at other hardrocks, i suspect its 68 x 118mm. But I'm not 100%. Any ideas?

Am I right in thinking the shimano un26 or un55 would OK?

Also what special tools do I need to change it? And is it difficult?

Cheers

so your bike is the Disc INT "&

    and not the Sport Disc?

take it out and check the length.

Yeah, INT version. Can I take it out without any special tools?

As it's a cartridge BB, I'd put money on loose cranks and not the BB.

I've checked tightness and for play, but didn't find anything. One weird thing is that every bike I've ever owned the left hand crank has come loose, and destroyed the square tapered post. So yeah, it could be the crank. Could I be riding weird?

Weird is the axle getting damaged which is steel, before the crank, which is generally aluminium.
Bur square taper BB's generally last years, decades even.

Your right. Its the crank that gets destroyed not the axle. Its been a while since it happened last.
