Specialized Tarmac Elite or Giant Defy Advanced 2? Any recommendations? The Giant has good reviews, but what about the Tarmac?

I have a Defy Advanced 3 (2012), exactly the same as a Defy Advanced 2 (2013) but black/red as opposed to white/blue. It's a really nice ride & forgiving bike, the 105 group set is nice to use. Giant have really thought about the bike as its got the ride sense built in & all the ports for Di2 when you come to upgrade at a later date. Remember that the frame is always the frame, but the group set can be upgraded as and when required to make it an even better bike. Sorry cant compare to the spec Tarmac as not ridden one.
You also may be able to buy a 2012 version at a sale price if you look around, I did ;-)
    Hope this helps your decision.

you are comparing two very different bikes, essentially the Tarmac is a race bike first and formost, Stiff, responsive but will not be as comfortable as the Defy which while responsive, is designed as a "long days in the saddle" type of bike.

more similar to the Tarmac would be the Giant TCR advanced.... so it really depends what sort of riding you do ?

You should be comparing the Tarmac to Giant TCR range.
    Giant Defy to Spesh Roubaix.
