Hi All,
over the winter I tinkered some more with the Izoard, and think I'm probably there in terms of upgrades - I'm really happy with the way it rides and looks now.
The only bits I could still be tempted with are a Record Rear mech (to replace the Chorus) and Record shifters (to replace the Carbon Centaur ones ), although this would just be to make it all match, I'm not sure i'd notice any discernible difference in performance.
So, latest upgrades are:
Centaur compact chainset replaced with lovely, FSA K-Force Light carbon compact
Centaur Rear mech replaced with Chorus rear mech
Centaur BB replaced with FSA BB
FSA seatpost replaced with Deda SuperZero full carbon seatpost
Centaur brake calipers replaced with FSA Energy brake calipers
American Classic wheels replaced with Fulcrum Racing Zero's in red
Vredestein tyres replaced with Schwalbe Ultremo ZX's
No comments on the spacers please, I'm still working on the correct bar height for my old back, and I know my bike needs a clean!!

They are still great looking/riding bikes. I am currently trying to decide if its worthwhile incrementally upgrading the groupset on mine. Currently its Veloce but I have an itch to by some new levers - Chorus or Centaur Carbon maybe. On the other hand I could use a second bike so might ride my Izoard over the winter and save for a new one for next year. What are the Carbon centaur shifters like. Did you notice any difference with the Chorus rear mech?
Anyway - back to yours. Looks really good especially the wheels. Small gap on Bar tape is catching my eye though!0 -
The shifting is a lot better than it was, although I cant say for definite what did it. i had Shimano fit American Classics on it before and therefore a Shimano fit/Campag spaced cassette, matched to Centaur levers and a centaur rear mech....it was always a bit notchy and jumpy.
Now I have Carbon Centaur levers, a brand new Chorus ar mech and Fulcrums with Camly hubs and a genuine Campy cassette, it seems to shift a lot smoother.
Re the bar tape....I know. It was my first go at wrapping the bars and I made a hash of it
When they need re-doing, Ill get the LBS to do it!!!
Thanks for thnpositive comments though, they really are lovely bikes0 -
That's looking well.
How do you find the wheels. I keep looking at dark labels but never quite get round to buying them.
Your brake quick release is up too.Wilier Cento Uno SR 2013 in Fluro Yellow

Thanks slowandsteady...
The wheels went on for the first time yesterday (hence the brake caliper QR being up, the wheels wouldnt go in inflated with it down...I need to re-set the calipers)
Anyway, the wheels are lovely...light, stiff and spin forever, plus they look gorgeous! I did 14 PBs on Strava today with them, and it was pretty windy in Kent this morning!,0 -
You did push the quick release over on the brake lever didnt you? That should have gave you enough room with an inflated tyre.
What weight are you? I'm 87kgs and I fear flex with the wheels.Wilier Cento Uno SR 2013 in Fluro Yellow

Yeah, I opened the QR to get the wheel in, but if I close it right up, the blocks rub. So I just need to re-set the blocks.
Re my weight, wow! What a personal question!
Only joking...Im 82.5kg and have no flex at all .... The front on my American Classics used to flex a bit mind....0 -
looks great!0

I'm meaning the quick release on the brake lever not the brake calipers. The brake lever release is either on or off. There is no in between.
Sorry if I'm trying to teach my granny how to suck eggs here but I only worked out what the silver barrel on the lever was for a week or so ago too.Wilier Cento Uno SR 2013 in Fluro Yellow

What levers do you speak of with such a function?
Campagnolo shifter have a button on them which releases brake cable tension. At the top of the brake lever, on the inside there is a metal 'button'. Push it towards the outside et voila0 -

It's cunningly positioned, follow andy's instructions. I only discovered mine after reading a review where it was mentioned.0 -
Ah, that explains it - Shimano rules, #1 :-)Yellow is the new Black.0

What he said.
I've found it actually gives more clearance than the QR on the brake calipers. Cunning really.Wilier Cento Uno SR 2013 in Fluro Yellow

Very smart 8)
Did that cap in the end of the chain set come with it, I have the same K Force Light and have often worried about water and gunk getting in?"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Arran77, yes the carbon "bung" came with the chainset....I bought it second hand off here, but the guy had never fitted the chainset, so I dont know if its standard or if he sourced it from somewhere?...sorry0
