Repairing a cut on the tread of the tyre.

I have a 10mm cut in the centre of my tyre right on the tread. I stuck a tube patch on the inside to get me home, but now I’m back how should I fix this or is it just one of those things and the tyre had it?
Sorry if this has probable been asked before, but I can only find fixes for sidewalls and that may have answered my question.

I would try cleaning the inside of the tyre and using an epoxy to glue the slit together, then glue on a patch of old inner tube. Something like gaffa tape will eventually come off from water ingress. I've not tried this before, but it's where I'd start...0
