Dart2 to Reba upgrade

Last year i bought a Giant XTC4 frame and built it up using 2nd hand and sale stuff, Needed To get it done as quick as possible. At the time i fitted a 'new' Dart 2 fork. Its served me well, but i think i'ved finished it off now. The lockout packed up within weeks and now its started making 'clunking' noises on even small lumps.
Current spec on my bike is XTC4 frame, XT front and rear mechs, LX shifters, Superstar switch hubs on 430 rims, elixier 5 brakes,
Im in a postion to get a set of Reba RL solo air 100mm forks, but the darts are only 80mm. Is it going to make much differnce with the extra 20mm. I commute everyday (only 10miles) and also ride the local trails and bridleways and trail centres when i can 'borrow' transport.
