The ride to town and not get stolen bike

I work in a bike shop and own some nice fancy bikes. Normally this is great but if you just want to ride in to town to get some lunch or go to the post office, £4k of carbon isn't the best option so I built this out of old parts....
which was great but then I brought some red paint and a rummage though the parts bin resulted in this
I thought the 53/18 gearing would be a bit high but its flat in to town and back so not to bad, this said if i happen upon a 49t it will be going on.
It really pleasant to ride, slightly concerned by the amount of flex the fork has tho!

But you know how this ends...
After 6 months you'll have a "beater and pub bike" that's worth 2.5k, and a carbon bikes that's worth 4k and have to start all over again...0 -
sadly you aren't far from right, has a customer in with a lovely 90's colnago today who wanted to part ex it :?0

The flex in the front forks is just 'compliance'...apparantly it smooths out the ride ;0)“Faster, Faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.” Hunter S Thompson0

Chainset looks cr@p :-) Dad had a nineties Colnago in the other day in almost Mapei colours that some Phillustine had chopped the (Threaded) steerer tube down on for some reason unbeknown to man I was quite tempted by that, not sure it would make a good shop bike though...0
