Focus Izalco destroys the Canyon - Says who ?

Me and every single pro peloton. There are multiple reasons why not one of them rides an Al frame. Bit hey, each to their own.

May be you should research what the Katusha team said when they swapped from the Focus Izalco to the Canyon CF SLX.

And see what results Omega Pharma-Lotto had on Canyon AL bikes.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

No one has mentioned Madison/Genesis yet. Another example of a pro team not racing on carbon.

Didn't Gilbert race the AL on a few classics last season?

Fair do's. Man enough to admit when I haven't got all the facts. Although my comment about the Izalco was against the AL and not the CF SLX. I can see teams have used the AL, but only in the classics and non of the grand tours as far as I can tell and nobody has won a grand tour riding an alloy frame in recent times?

As for Genesis Madison not using carbon bikes, well that's a no-brainer considering that their title sponsor doesn't even make them.

Not sure whose comments are amusing you the most Jim C but I was only trying to point out that Carbon does not destroy AL (or other frame materials) like denniskwok stated.

I am no material expert and have not stated any facts about carbon or al. Just merely voiced my opinion that I feel the rider makes more difference than material and pro riders would ride any bike for the money they are paid.

At my level of cycling I doubt any bike would get me round my course on a weekend any quicker. It's my legs and lungs that are the limiting factor NOT the bike. Carbon or AL or Ti or Steel - just get out and pedal but don't diss a bike just because it is not carbon.

    ^^^^ agree with U entirely Avit5 :-)

The level of blinkered was highly amusing. :-) (i do have quite a lot of materials and manufacture experience in some of the fields mentioned)

Rapha Condor JLT have a number of their riders riding the Tour Series (and other races) on the Condor Super Acciaio (steel bike) rather than their Leggero (carbon).
