Suggestions - cheap 26" frame for commuter

I upgraded from a Dahon Jack to a "proper" road bike for commuting last year, partly because the frame on my Jack had a mahoosive crack in it. All the other bits and pieces (wheels/tyre/brakes/gears etc) are fairly serviceable, so I was thinking of sticking them onto another suitable frame. The "new" bike would then be a back-up for my main bike, or a pub/shops bike.

Only problem is, I can't find a frame! Anyone know where best to look for 26" frames suitable for commuting use?

Cheers :D

What specs do you require for the frame ie what part specs d you have? It will be a miracle if all fit!
  • Parts are nothing fancy, just the stock stuff that came with the Jack. Was mainly looking to re-use wheels/fork/handlebars/brakes/gears.

Just a solid, fairly bomb-proof frame - aluminium or steel.

What size are you? Anywhere in East Anglia? Ive got a nice Spesh Hardrock 1992 I'm trying to flip.
  • I'm 6' 4" but in Manchester unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though!

    Try your LBS?
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
