Another crocked cyclist.....

Does anyone out there have any experience getting back into cycling after either a High Tibial Osteotomy or partial knee replacement? After 20yrs of ignoring my left knee after several injuries I am now faced with the above options to correct/fix the damage. Bearing in mind I'm 'only' in my early 40s this is a bit early to be needing to go to these extremes but that's where I'm at. I'm asking as I still want to be able to stay fit and running seems out (not that I ever liked it much anyway) so to continue cycling seems my best bet. I guess I'd like to know from anyone who's had experience how long before they were back or if they even made it back to a similar level. Help!

Just for interest, have you got osteoarthritis or chronic meniscal/articular cartilage damage? - is your leg now out of alignment? - have you damaged your medial or lateral side? a HTO or Partial will realign the knee although its efficacy can depend on the skill of the surgeon (in particular for a HTO).0 -

Osteoarthritis in the medial part of the knee but have had two arthroscopies to remove damaged cartilage from that side. Leg isn't massively out of alignment. Am bone on bone with no ACL to boot which also complicates the partial by all accounts. Lateral side all ok.0 -
Colleague at work just gad the mechano removed from his knee. Had a few weeks recuperation and is now trying to kill himself on the red runs mtb routes around where he lives.
Both my knees on the way out. Drying joints and tendons stretched so a tad weak.---
