Hi Everyone,

I Just wanted some advice on how best to insure my bikes. My house contents insures bikes upto £500 each but I have a new cube agree gtc race £1600 and a cube LTD race MTB £1000. I can add these on to my policy at an extra cost of about £130 per year. Is this what you all do or is it best to insure them separately with another company?

Any help would be great

depends what you want it to cover and where it's kept.

i keep my bike in the house and when it's out of the house i'm either on it, it's not unattended or it's locked and covered up in the car, so i don't bother as my contents insurance (direct line) just classifies anything in the house as 'contents' and therefore subject to a £10K single item limit (the bike limit of a £1000, only applies if out of house). obviously only covers me for the full value if i get burgled though.

however £130 doesn't seem unreasonable give the value of items you're talking about (dependent on cover it provides)
