When a bash guard says (for example) 34t. Is that the size of the bash guard (same size as a 34t ring) or is that the number of teeth in the middle ring that it should be covering? :?

it is what it if for. if you have a 34 ring to cover then you use a 34T bash."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

that's what I presumed, it was the 40t Bash I saw that sewed the seed of doubt. Cheers.
And one more while I've got your attention;
Could this Saint 46t(!) crankset be easily converted to a double (22/32) and bash with standard 104 BCD bits

unlikely. unless it has the 64mm bcd holes and they are threaded."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
