Bionicon C Guide - Extra Links?

Hi,

I've got a Bionicon C Guide on order and there is no shortage of videos and reviews saying how quick and easy it is to fit but there are 1 or 2 sites that advise adding 2-3links - which logically would make sense but I'm hoping isn't the case as I'm running a KMC x9SL and don't have any spare links plus joining it would require 2 masterlinks which I really don't want to do.

Anyone got any experience of these and how I'd tell if I did need to add some links?

Bike is a 2011 Rockhopper Comp SL and chain on there at the moment is 110links which is the same length as the chain it came with.

thanks,

Dan

you size the chain as normal, big and big and through the device no mech.

anymore details on that method I've always just copied the stock chain length.... routed as you described should the chain be taut?

I have a bionicon c guide v.02 on my trance. Fitted it and it works perfectly fine without any chain adjustments.

as you are making the chain travel further you should do as above. or if your chain is now too short you could do any of the following whem going into the big ring or droping something that makes the travel go though all its stroke.

rip the mech off. rip the C guide off. rip the mech hanger off. trash the frame.

size it correctly and you will not have these issues.

bung it on without checking you will never know intill something happens.

hell it only takes seconds to check.

figured as much, just wondered for those that it worked fine for if they had checked.

As per rapid_donkey - straight on, no chain faffing :-)
