Freehub Spline wear

Have done 1500 miles on DT Swiss Wheels and there are notches in the freehub splines to such a degree that I have to file them to get the cassette back on. My guess is that the 5 / 6 middle cogs are causing the notches rather than the highest or lowest cogs - I assume this is due to the middle ones being used more.
Are these notches common on freehubs and do they actually cause problems with shifting or anything else - the cassette in Ultegra?

A very common issue with Alloy freehubs.
Some (e.g American Classic) incorporate reinforcement to try to combat this.Yellow is the new Black.0
