edited June 2013 in MTB buying advice
Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me, i was originally going to buy the above 2012 model of this bike, unfortunately were i was getting it no longer has it in stock, they have offered me the above 2013 model for a bit lower than the original price to compensate, i was just wondering peoples opinions, on the face of it, is it basically the same bike but with a different colour, or is there actual improvements over the 2012 model?

thank you

james

The 2012 has hydraulic forks, a major plus, also many other bits are that little bit better, overall a £50ish better bike.

Both are rubbish value for money and you can get better for over £100 less.

I like the spec of it compared to the other 2 plus i got it new for £425, i thought that seemed ok.

    do you think its not?

Rather poor spec for the money I'm afraid. Comparing to 2 that are worse value for money isn't a good benchmark!

well the only one that was cheaper than what i paid was the voodoo, i can see that the suspensions might be a little better, but i don't really see how the other componants are a lot better?

The suspension is the main thing.

i'm not overly concerned about the suspension, if its not great i may invest in rockshox at a later date, are the rest of the components better on the one ive bought though or pretty much the same?

Suspension makes or brakes a bike - look at reviews of budgets bikes, all ones with poor suspesnion do very badly.

The parts are not too bad, but wasted as the fork is such a let down. I'd certainly think about upgrading ASAP as it will ruin the ride when it gets bumpy.

    No a Brake brakes it!

Agree though the Suspension fork is what determines if a bike is good or bad, everything else just about merely makes it better or worse.

A poor suspension fork is worse than a rigid one to ride and weighs more and is less rigid (in the directions you want it rigid!).

A new fork cost more than any other component, including the frame.
