Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me, i was originally going to buy the above 2012 model of this bike, unfortunately were i was getting it no longer has it in stock, they have offered me the above 2013 model for a bit lower than the original price to compensate, i was just wondering peoples opinions, on the face of it, is it basically the same bike but with a different colour, or is there actual improvements over the 2012 model?
thank you

The 2012 has hydraulic forks, a major plus, also many other bits are that little bit better, overall a £50ish better bike.
Both are rubbish value for money and you can get better for over £100 less.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

I like the spec of it compared to the other 2 plus i got it new for £425, i thought that seemed ok.
do you think its not?0 -
Rather poor spec for the money I'm afraid. Comparing to 2 that are worse value for money isn't a good benchmark!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Crap for the price. There is better available for less money.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

What ones would be better for cheaper?0

Carrera Kraken, Voodoo Bantu, Decathlon Rockrider 8.0.0

well the only one that was cheaper than what i paid was the voodoo, i can see that the suspensions might be a little better, but i don't really see how the other componants are a lot better?0

i'm not overly concerned about the suspension, if its not great i may invest in rockshox at a later date, are the rest of the components better on the one ive bought though or pretty much the same?0

Suspension makes or brakes a bike - look at reviews of budgets bikes, all ones with poor suspesnion do very badly.
The parts are not too bad, but wasted as the fork is such a let down. I'd certainly think about upgrading ASAP as it will ruin the ride when it gets bumpy.0 -

Agree though the Suspension fork is what determines if a bike is good or bad, everything else just about merely makes it better or worse.
A poor suspension fork is worse than a rigid one to ride and weighs more and is less rigid (in the directions you want it rigid!).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
A new fork cost more than any other component, including the frame.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
