Finishing Kit Rules?

I guess there aren't any above personal preference, but I have a CAAD8 and would like to get a carbon seatpost, bars and a slightly longer stem.

I like the look of the 3T stuff and the Specialized Pave seatpost. Would it look massively retarded to mix and match? I also have an FSA chainset so I could just buy full FSA stuff to really match.

Not sure there's much of a question there, just looking for opinions on whether finishing kit should match.

  • Personally I like the matching kit although would get different brand parts if the price/weight/look was right. I think the look is most important for me though.

Perhaps "rules" was the wrong word to use. Just after opinions really

I think you meant - What is considered good taste.

Just like with clothes there is not a rule to say You must not wear shell suits, but everyone knows to do so is to demonstrate poor taste

I assume your desire to have good taste is why you list your location as near Wakefield. I mean who on earth would live in Wakefield? :-)

    haha

No it's more to do with the fact more people know where Wakefield is than East Ardsley.

FTFY - Some people might find what you wrote quite offensive.
  • As long as it is all black.

As long as it is all black.

    Again offensive.

    On topic....

I wouldn't look twice if anyone was to mix brands, I would assume the items were bought for function and buget. Personally, as long as it matches style/colour I wouldn't care. It's not something that's ever occurred tbh.

People really do worry about others opinions with cycling don't they. We are a daft, vain bunch of girls.(yes bloody offensive again I know)

Personally I'd work out what bars give you the shape you want and buy your finishing kit based on that. I wouldn't mix and match but I freely admit that it's for personal asthetic (OCD) reasons more than anything else.
